The company behind the planned ‘Rotating City’ in Dubai has unveiled plans for another scheme called the Emirates Flag, which is set to be built in Ras Al Khaimah. High Rise Real Estate plans to issue tender documents for the proposed US $2 billion (AED7 billion) development by the end of the year. Set for launch in the first quarter of 2007, it will be developed in association with Ras Al Khaimah Free Zone Authority, Dream Industrial Park and A&A Investment Group. “We want the Emirates Flag project to be the first icon of the UAE, representing the unity and dynamism, of this country. This project will put Ras Al Khaimah on the global map,” said Faisal Ali Moosa, managing partner, High Rise Real Estate. Architect Dimensions has designed the development, which is based around the flag of the UAE. It will be spread over seven blocks with each block themed around one of the seven emirates. The development will include a residential tower, five-star hotel and office tower. High Rise Real Estate also pledged to introduce a high speed hovercraft for commuters between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, reducing journey times by 50%. “Commuting between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah will not be a problem any more, as The Emirates Flag Development will provide its own fleet of high speed water-jet taxis, which will provide an over-water connection for commuters travelling between Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai,” added Ali Moosa. Each residential tower within the development will face the sea and the middle building in every block will be a five-star hotel – themed to reflect the history of the emirate that it represents.
