UK systems integrator, Megahertz Broadcast Systems, will be coach-building two SNG vehicles for the Arab Radio and Television Corporation (ART). The vehicles will be delivered at the end of this year. The new long wheel base vehicles will be equipped with Advent NewsSwift 150cm satellite dishes and will also feature Tandberg encoders/receivers, two Xicom XTRD-400k HPA, and fibre links to and from external sources. Hassan Merei, director of Engineering for ART, says Megahertz was chosen for this project because it was able to offer a fast and flexible service that tied in with the company’s requirements for fast delivery. “Megahertz was awarded the project on technical merits, good engineering design and state of art equipment, as well as the company’s ability to meet the ART time frame for delivery,” he says. Speaking about the deal, Dave McArthur, director of international sales for Megahertz adds: “Megahertz is well regarded throughout the Middle East thanks to the large number of prestigious projects it has handled for broadcasters such as Al Jazeera and Kuwait TV. Delivery timescales on both vehicles are tight but our ability to meet ART’s deadline, combined with our experience in installing dual fibre connections into vehicles of this type, have helped us secure this contract.” The SNG vehicles will be based in Saudi Arabia and will be used on a roving basis to cover live sports events in the Middle East.
