The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai, has introduced a series of innovative services to make life easier for business travellers. The hotel’s concierge service now offers a selection of mobile global positioning systems (GPS) that will help guests find their way around the city. “We are pleased to announce that we are the first hotel in the Middle East to introduce this service, and it has already had such a positive impact on our guests,” said Sameh Ibrahim, the hotel’s director of information technology. Guests can rent either a mobile phone or a personal digital assistance (PDA) device, both of which are integrated with a GPS receiver, preloaded with SuperNav software and UAE maps. The devices map out the route between the hotel and the guest’s final destination and provide visual and audio directions once the user enters the relevant information. They are also handy tools for businessmen who have a number of meetings scheduled throughout the day, as they will automatically find the path from one meeting to another, as well as provide the estimated travel time. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. has also reintroduced its Luggageless Travel service, whereby customers who stay in a Ritz-Carlton Hotel more than four times per month can leave their suitcase at the hotel upon check-out. Guests can leave dry cleaning or laundry items to be taken care of by the hotel staff. “When our frequent guests return for their next stay, everything will be hung in the closet, stored in the bathroom, and they will have no concerns about how to pack or what to pack,” said Paul Westbrook, senior vice president, brand and product development for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.
