Mitel, the IP communications solution provider, has established an agreement with Yemen’s incumbent telecommunications provider, Public Telecommunications Corporation (PTC), which will see the telco provide Mitel solutions to the market. “The new agreement will provide state-of-the-art IP communication solutions to customers to provide flexibility, cost-savings and improve business processes and customer service,” said Kamal Hussein Al-Jebry, director-general, PTC. “We are now moving forward with plans to migrate our customer TDM base to IP and the Mitel solution facilitates seamless migration, enabling customers to retain their existing equipment.” PTC will use Mitel’s range of IP platforms, including the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP), capable of supporting up to 65,000 users in a single network configuration, which will be installed at various government institutions across the country. Mitel will also supply applications for contact centres, mobility, teleworking, speech-unified messaging, messaging, collaboration, presence, video conferencing and wireless communications. “Mitel’s partnership with PTC is a core element to our growth in the region. This agreement demonstrates PTC’s commitment to providing their customers with the latest communications solutions to improve their business. We look forward to supporting them on their IP drive,” said Hisham Amili, general manager, Mitel GCC.
