BMW Group Middle East has organised a short film competition-the MINI Film Festival 2006 to encourage filmmaking in the region. The competition is open to entries from September 1 to November 1. Films should not be of more than 15 minutes duration. “The Mini Film Festival 2006 is a great way for us to reach out to the burgeoning film community within the Middle East, and offer our support for enhancing the region’s growing reputation as a vital emerging film hub,” says Guenther Seemann, managing director, BMW Group Middle East. Judges will be looking for compelling storytelling. Directors can choose the format of their films whether they be live action, animation, computer graphics or hybrid forays into short-form. 'The MINI brand has launched several amateur film festivals and partnered with international events across the world. We are excited to launch here in the Middle East a unique concept that will further contribute to strengthening the cultural scene in the region', adds Seemann.
