Xerox Corporation has added multifunction muscle to its network printing line with the introduction of what it claims is its fastest-ever desktop multifunction system. The Xerox WorkCentre 4150 offers mono printing, copying, scanning and faxing to help all sizes of business work better. The firm has also announced three new Phaser printers. Starting from US$2,199 in the United States (with regional pricing to be set in coming weeks), and offering vendor quoted print speeds of up to 45 pages per minute, the WorkCentre 4150 is the first Xerox A4 multifunction product to be sold through channel partners serving a broad base of customers (as part of Xerox’s ongoing aim to move 100% of its Office business to an indirect channel sales structure). The company has also ramped up its portfolio of single-function printers – both mono and colour – in developing markets. The Phaser 6110, 3125 and 3428 have been designed to enhance productivity at affordable prices. “Small and medium-sized businesses continue to be one of the fastest-growing segments in the market today,” said Keith Kmetz, program director of hardcopy peripherals solutions and services at research house IDC. “With its continued product additions and focus on moving these products through channels targeted to reach the SMB market, Xerox is positioned to capture growth from new and existing customers.” The WorkCentre 4150 black-and-white multifunction printer is available in flexible configurations, from a basic copy-only version to an advanced version that prints, copies, scans and faxes. It is, Xerox claims, the only product in its class to offer automatic two-sided printing on all configurations, making it 11% less than its US product competitors. Meanwhile, Xerox claims its new Phaser 6110 color laser printer prints up to four pages per minute in color and 17 pages per minute on letter-sized paper (16 pages per minute on A4 paper) in black and white, at a print resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi. The 6110 comes in two versions: one direct-connect printer and a network-ready printer. The Phaser 3428 black-and-white laser printer is available in two models: the Phaser 3428D and Phaser 3428DN. Both models feature automatic two-sided printing. Last but not least, the Xerox Phaser 3125 black-and-white laser printer comes in two models – the 3125 and the 3125N. The Phaser 3125N version adds network functionality and is, Xerox reckons, one of the lowest priced network printers on the market today. Both models come with 32Mbytes of memory and a 400 MHz processor. The WorkCentre 4150 is available immediately worldwide through Xerox resellers, distributors, dealers, direct sales representatives and concessionaires. The Phaser 6110 and Phaser 3428 are available in the Middle East immediately, while the Phaser 3125 will arrive in the region early next year.
