Nakheel has launched a 2,000 villa residential development called Jumeirah Park after part of its original Jumeirah Village development was abandoned as a result of plans to build a new highway through the site. The US $1.3 billion (AED5 billion) project is the fourth Jumeirah-branded development to be launched by Nakheel and follows Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Village and Jumeirah Golf Estates. The site had been earmarked for the next phase of Jumeirah Village. But the developer was forced to revamp its original plans to accommodate the ‘Parallel Roads’ that will link Jebel Ali with Bur Dubai. “We have created corridors in our designs for the East parallel road. It will then move toward Emirates Hills and continue on,” said Yousuf Kazim, general manager of Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Village and Jumeirah Park.
