Ex-HP SPO chief Hazem Bazan has been officially named as the new boss of Dell’s UAE operation. He will be tasked with spearheading the vendor’s local go-to-market strategy and using his 15 years of Middle East IT experience to increase Dell’s penetration of the Emirates. Channel Middle East revealed last month that Dell was preparing to unveil Bazan as a key component of its regional team after he ended his nine-year role as head of HP’s Partner Organisation back in July. Bazan admitted at the time that he declined HP’s offer to stay in favour of finding ‘a new challenge and a new opportunity.’ “We are very pleased to welcome Hazem to our team,” commented Michael Collins, general manager at Dell Middle East. “His skills and experience will benefit Dell and allow it to achieve its objectives in the United Arab Emirates. I’m certain that Hazem’s efforts will enable us to realise more success in the region.” Bazan graduated from Cairo University in Egypt and holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering. He also previously held several leading roles at a series of IT companies and his management positions included account product manager, systems engineer and PC manager at Compaq. He headed the Partner Organisation at HP for five years in a role that saw him execute channel strategy and manage both value and volume for channel partners throughout the Middle East.
