TNT Express has announced plans to invest over US$1 million to expand its services in Saudi Arabia. The company is currently increasing its presence throughout the Kingdom. As part of the strategy, a number of TNT Express walk-in centres have opened in cities such as Jeddah, Dhahran, Madinah, Tabuk and Buraidah. An additional 22 walk-in centres are also being planned in major cities throughout Saudi Arabia over the next 18 months. “We want to really expand TNT’s nationwide coverage and become the third largest domestic express player by 2015,” said Taha Al-Harazy, country general manager, TNT Express. The expansion will complement TNT’s Middle East Road Network, which currently covers 11 destinations, including Dhahran, Riyadh and Jeddah. “We will expand in a phased manner, catering to the needs of medium and large scale customers demanding end-to-end logistics solutions,” added Al-Harazy. “We aim to make TNT more accessible within the Kingdom. Our recent ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications are official recognitions that we are doing this with the highest quality possible.” In addition to increasing the number of middle and large sized customers through the expansion, TNT Express wants to target individual customers through the walk-in centres. “Saudi Arabia is strategically located and bordered by eight countries, serving as a gateway to the Middle East,” said Al-Harazy. “Therefore it is vital for a company wanting to develop its regional business to have a strong presence in the Kingdom.”
