Networking kit vendor Netgear has confirmed the appointment of Emitac as a Middle East distribution partner. Emitac will distribute Netgear’s complete product portfolio including switches, access points, VPN firewall solutions, wireless cards and storage print servers. “Netgear has been exploring powerful channel partners to enhance its presence in the UAE and across the Middle East, and the agreement with Emitac marks one of our most important channel partnerships to date,” said Ahmed Zeidan, channel sales manager at Netgear Middle East. “Emitac is a well-established IT solutions provider with an extensive distribution network, and their market expertise and understanding is second to none. Moreover, they are known for their hands-on approach to business, providing active support to resellers and retailers to encourage greater sales performance. We are positive that Emitac will help us gain traction in the regional market and I personally feel that this alliance could result in the doubling of our targets for this year,” Zeidan continued. Emitac, which is targeting sales in excess of US$200m for full year 2006, offers a wide range of services to resellers in various Middle East markets including the UAE, Qatar, Jordan and Kuwait. Emitac operates distribution hubs in Jebel Ali, Amman and Doha and supplies more than 500 active resellers. Emitac also represents major vendors such as HP. Acer and Microsoft. “We are pleased to join hands with a global IT leader of Netgear’s stature,” said Amer Khreino, general manager at Emitac Distribution. “Emitac’s initial assessment has shown a market shift towards wireless connectivity solutions, and we anticipate a strong demand for Netgear products.” “Netgear boasts a rich portfolio of leading edge networking products and solutions that are in wide use in homes and offices around the world. Emitac will look to leverage its regional strength to push these products in the fast growing regional markets and maximize Netgear’s market share. As a first step, we are putting together Netgear loyalty programmes for resellers, and similar strategic sales initiatives will follow soon.” Zeidan continued: “After firmly establishing itself as the market leader in Europe, Netgear is now focusing its attention on the high-potential Middle East market and is looking to emerge as the region’s premier provider of customer-driven networking solutions.” “Netgear’s products all boast unique design, functionality and high performance, and the fact that we offer immediate replacement in the event of any product failure demonstrates our confidence in the quality of our products. Through strategic business alliances with reputed distributors like Emitac, we aim to establish a strong presence in the region,” he concluded. The Middle East wireless networking channel is a sector characterised by fierce competition as vendors fight for market share. Other vendors working in this space include Linksys, 3Com, US Robotics, Belkin, Buffalo and Senao. Even more vendors are expected to turn their attention to channel development in the Middle East in the near future.
