Robson promoted to COO role at i-mate

Mobile solutions provider i-mate has shuffled its senior management pack, promoting Dawn Robson to the role of chief operating officer (COO) and hiring Robin Bowler as global marketing director.

Mobile solutions provider i-mate has shuffled its senior management pack, promoting Dawn Robson to the position of chief operating officer (COO) and bringing on board Robin Bowler as global marketing director. The management reshuffle comes at an exciting time for i-mate with new products such as the as yet unconfirmed i-mate Jaq expected to hit the market soon. i-mate claims that the two roles held by Robson and Bowler will help drive the company’s continued growth as it embarks on an aggressive plan to position itself as a truly global player in the mobility space for Windows-based mobile products and solutions. Robson will assume responsibility for operations management at i-mate focusing on strategic direction, tactical implementation and short-term operations management on a global scale. She will also have overall responsibility for i-mate’s global sales and marketing strategies. Jim Morrison, CEO at i-mate, commented: “Having been with the company since 2002, Dawn is key to the future of i-mate. Her contribution has been invaluable from the very start and I am sure that she will fulfil her role with her usual confidence and drive.” Bowler, whose international experience spans Europe, Asia and Africa, said: “i-mate is an incredibly exciting place to be right now and I’m looking forward to helping to drive the growth of both the company and the brand in conjunction with the very talented group of people I’m working with.” Morrison commented: “i-mate’s ever-increasing global reach requires a dynamic global marketing strategy. Robin’s previous experience and his expertise will be fundamental in engineering further i-mate growth and position the company as a major player within this competitive market.” i-mate is also poised to expand its product portfolio with the i-mate Jaq widely tipped as one of the next new models to roll off the production line. Pictures of the as yet unconfirmed i-mate Jaq suggest that i-mate is making good on its promise to expand its base of manufacturing partners, reducing its dependence on contract manufacturer HTC. In its annual financial results, i-mate stated: “Our product pipeline is considerably stronger in the coming year. We have stood by our commitment to expand our manufacturer base by signing up new manufacturing partners who will further strengthen the range and depth of products. Work also continues on our own exclusive designs which will be revealed in February next year, requiring major investment both in non-refundable development expenditure and network testing approvals. This will provide the Company with exclusive designs in all markets, and should boost sales in the US and Europe.” Morrison commented in the results statement: “The future is looking very positive. We indicated at the time of the IPO that we would seek to expand our supplier base and we have now signed up new manufacturing partners, in addition to HTC, who will strengthen and complement our product range. This will result in us having a more robust supply chain going forward. We have a road map of products for the next two years covering up to some 30 products, the majority of which would be exclusive to i-mate.” “We will also reveal our own exclusive products at 3GSM Congress in Barcelona next February. These products will be our first completely designed and manufactured products and we believe they will be the next step in mobile phone computing, having been designed around our software strategy and to blend with Microsoft’s broader strategy,” he concluded.
