Starbucks is set to make its debut in Egypt, with three branches expected to be open by the end of the summer. With Kuwait’s MH Alshaya Group controlling the coffee giant’s franchise in the Middle East, its first three outlets will be located in Alexandria and Cairo. The group announced that it plans to eventually have 50 branches in Egypt. The Alshaya Group operates brands such as Thai Chai, Le Pain Quotidien and The Gaucho Grill. “We have a lot of plans in the pipeline for introducing the coffee chain, but this is subject to a number of crucial factors now, such as licensing and getting the products into the country,” a source revealed to Caterer Middle East.
