Mobily launches international 3G access

Domestically, Mobily’s 3G network extends to 15 cities, and consists of more than 900 base stations.

Saudi Arabia mobile operator Mobily has announced the offer of its 3G services internationally, allowing subscribers to make video calls to the UAE, Italy, Hong Kong, Luxembourg and Australia. In June, Mobily announced the launch of 3G services locally, allowing subscribers to watch TV channels live on their mobile devices, including the Alarabiyah channel, CNBC Arabiya, Saudi TV, and Space Toon. The cost of video telephony is 0.80 halalas (US$0.20) per minute for postpaid subscribers, while the streaming of TV content costs Riyal 1 per minute. 3G subscribers are not required to pay a monthly subscription fee to utilise the services.
