HP has confirmed the appointment of Salim Ziade as the new solutions provider organisation (SPO) manager for the Middle East. Ziade replaces Hazem Bazan in the position. Ziade previously served as commercial and consumer category manager for HP personal systems group (PSG) in the Middle East. Anil Gandhi, PSG general manager at HP Middle East, commented: “Ziade is very dynamic and has lots of energy. He is extremely growth oriented and committed at looking for ways to expand the business. He had been in the PSG role for 18 months and during that time had demonstrated a high level of understanding of what it takes to work with the channel.” “I am a firm believer in internal candidates for this type of role,” added Gandhi. “They understand how HP works and that is very important. It is part of my preference and management philosophy to look for candidates that have been with the company for some time and paid their dues.” In his PSG role Ziade was responsible for managing HP’s extensive portfolio and focused on positioning the products correctly to drive top and bottom line results. He also took on management responsibility for HP’s local assembly operation in Saudi Arabia. Prior to his PSG role, Ziade led the supply chain programme for emerging countries in EMEA and was senior procurement engineer in charge of microprocessors, motherboards, memory boards and other components. Ziade first joined HP in 1995 and has a Masters in Industrial Engineering. Outside of the office environment Ziade is a fan of car racing and water sports.
