The second annual Digital Business Channel (DBC) conference, organised by Distree Events, has been confirmed for the 18th to the 21st September 2006 and will be held at Le Meridien Al Aqah beach resort in Fujairah, UAE. The event plans to pull together more than 40 international vendors and 150 representatives from IT solution providers and enterprise-focused channel partners from across the Middle East and Africa (MEA). “During the first DBC MEA event held in 2005, we were urged by the vendors and the channel partners to expand our reach and to focus on technology to include security, storage and other software vendors,” said Farouk Hemraj, CEO at Distree Events. “Our research has shown us that there is a strong need for such an annual event in this region that provides a platform for networking between the corporate channel and the vendors from MEA. As a ‘by invitation’ only event, DBC gives senior decision makers focused opportunities to network with their peers in a relaxed atmosphere,” Hemraj added. At the first DBC MEA event in 2005, which was inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Head of Fujairah’s Government Electronic Department, more than 140 senior executives from the regional corporate reseller, VAR, systems integrator and ISV community attended. In total, channel partners from more than 30 countries attended the event. The business partners in attendance represented more than US$3 billion in combined turnover with 86% selling solutions to large corporate accounts, 82% to mid-sized enterprises and 72% to small businesses. DBC MEA 2006 will follow Distree Events tried and trusted formula and allow resellers and vendors to pre-book one-on-one appointments and arrange boardroom meeting online in the run-up to the event itself.
