Cognos honours BSG

Business intelligence (BI) solutions vendor Cognos awarded BSG its ‘Rising Star’ award for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region at its global partner awards. BSG sensationally dumped BI vendor Business Objects from its vendor portfolio in late 2005 and switched to pushing Cognos solutions instead.

Business intelligence (BI) solutions vendor Cognos awarded BSG its ‘Rising Star’ award for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region at its global partner awards. BSG sensationally dumped BI vendor Business Objects from its vendor portfolio in late 2005 and switched to Cognos solutions instead. BSG had been the only platinum distributor for Business Objects in the Middle East from 1995 until 2003 when Business Objects purchase of Crystal Decisions resulted in a dual regional distribution model. “BSG is delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award,” said Nasser Tufail of BSG. “We have won this award within six months of our partnership with Cognos and this highlights the synergies between the two companies. Working closely with Cognos, we look forward to leveraging our expertise and to driving performance management to the next level.” Cognos’ 2006 partner summit was attended by more than one hundred partners with BSG’s ‘Rising Star’ prize awarded in recognition of the company’s innovation, influence and thought-leadership. “For years, Cognos has built a broad, global ecosystem of successful partnerships that helps our customers drive performance management through a blend of technology, products and services offerings that best suits their needs,” said David Brierley, regional manager at Cognos Middle East and Africa. “Building on our recent innovations such as Cognos 8 BI, performance applications, and industry blueprints, our partners have achieved new successes and demonstrated even greater depth of industry expertise. BSG’s market presence, its demonstratable BI expertise and domain knowledge has made an incredible contribution to our work in the region and we are proud to honour their efforts,” he continued. The latest IDC reports claim that the total Gulf market for BI solutions is worth approximately US$32m to US$33m per annum with double-digit percentage growth potential. BSG has helped a number of clients deploy Cognos solutions including United Electronics Company, Canon Middle East, Al Esayi Electronics, Geant, Contax Group and Gulf Food Industries.
