The leading notebook vendor in the EMEA region as quoted by Gartner Data, Acer Europe, Middle East and Africa, has added a new ultra-portable product to its Ferrari laptop line-up. The 1000 series represents Acer's first prancing horse-powered super-lightweight release and features a svelte 12.1-inch LCD. “Since Acer started the Ferrari notebook range, the notebooks have been the driving force that has challenged not just Acer’s, but the industry’s perceptions of what is possible for a notebook computer,” said Graham Braum, Acer Middle East’s business development manager for its mobility and cameras division. “We are confident in announcing that the latest model – the Acer Ferrari 1000 – is an immediate leader amongst its peers in terms of power and performance,” he added. Unlike Acer’s current desktop replacement notebook, the Ferrari 4000, the 1000 series includes Acer’s new ‘InviLink Nplify’ technology. This accelerated mobile wireless technology supports advanced multiple radios thus, according to Acer, allowing it to deliver superior performance and reliable connections whilst enabling emerging voice, video and data applications. In keeping with the product being a seriously high-end ultra-portable, the 1000 boasts serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drives, usually found on larger notebook products. The 1000 meanwhile weighs just 1.6kg and features a six-cell battery.
