Epson has launched the EMP-S4 – a new 3LCD video projector that targets the region’s mobile professionals and teaching institutions. “The Epson EMP-S4 is a projector solution tailored to the needs of the education market and mobile professionals, and is designed for ease of use, affordability and portability,” stated Khalil El-Dalu, general manager of Epson Middle East. The projector features a brightness rating of 1800 ANSI lumens, a contrast ratio of 500:1 and is based on 3LCD technology, which the firm says ensures smooth, natural images and good colour reproduction. According to Epson, its EMP-S4 also offers improved pixel resolution and the highest level of brightness by using the firm’s own Twin Optimise Reflection Lamp (E-TORL) technology. This is designed to gather and project light efficiently, eliminate light-leakage and minimise light diffraction. The firm reckons this allows the EMP-S4 to be used in the brightest of environments, without compromising image quality. The 2.6kg projector has a quoted start-up time of four seconds and boasts an ‘Instant Off’ feature, which eliminates the need for cool down time. Also onboard is an A/V mute slide function that allows users to stop and resume projections mid-presentation. This, combined with a quoted operational noise of 30db, prevents the audience from being distracted and allows the focus to remain on the presenter reckons the firm. Epson says the S4 is particularly suited for tight spaces, projecting a 60” screen from as close as 1.7m, without compromising on image quality. With vertical keystone correction of 30 degrees, Epson claims a square image can be achieved from 34 inches. The EMP-S4 also features a single foot stand at the front of the unit for height adjustment. The S4 will be available for approximately US $833.
