Regional mobile phone distribution and retail giant i2 has teamed up with Skywards, the frequent flyer programme of Emirates airline, for a two month promotion in the UAE that offers customers buying a Nokia phone from an i2 outlet 15,000 bonus miles. “Tying up with Skywards will benefit everyone involved, particularly consumers,” said Abdul Hameed Al Sunaid, president at i2. “With such fierce competition for the same percentage of consumers’ disposable incomes, it is essential to give our customers more for their money.” The two-month promotion kicks off on July 1st 2006. Under the terms of the Skywards programme, 15,000 miles is the equivalent of a return ticket from Dubai to any GCC country or an upgrade from economy to business class from Dubai for any destination in the Middle East and Africa. “We believe that our partnership with i2 will benefit our members because i2 is the leading mobile phone retailer and telecommunication solution provider in the region,” explained Brian Labelle, VP at Skywards. “We constantly try to generate interesting promotional activities to please our loyal members as well as attract new ones,” Labelle added. Founded in 1993 in Saudi Arabia, i2 had grown to become of the largest and most diverse mobile phone suppliers in the Middle East. The company now has in excess of 1,300 employees and boasts operations across 17 countries. i2 offers its customers a lifetime warranty and a comprehensive after-sales maintenance programme on all products purchased in store or online.
