Channeltech, the distribution arm of South African Sahara Group has added distribution rights for Foxconn motherboards in the Middle East. Sahara also assembles its own brand of computers across Africa, the Middle East and India. Foxconn is the third motherboard vendor — alongside MSI and Asrock — to be added to Channeltech’s portfolio. “We have a very long relationship with Foxconn across the Sahara group, and we distribute Foxconn in India and South Africa, so we are pleased to add them to our portfolio for the Middle East,” said Manoj Tripathi general manager at Channeltech Distribution in Dubai. “Foxconn is the manufacturer of the internal components of motherboards, and it therefore has a certain control over the pricing in the market. We feel Foxconn will be leading the way in technology development in the future and they have a very strong portfolio,” added Tripathi. Channeltech joins approximately 50 other distributors working for Foxconn on a pan regional basis. Channeltech’s distribution rights cover the GCC but exclude Syria, Iran and Egypt. “Channeltech’s main job is to improve the availability of our products in certain markets, such as Saudi Arabia. The aim of many of our distributors is to increase Foxconn’s visibility and brand presence in the markets they work in,” said Vadim Lisenko, marketing manager at Foxconn Dubai. Channeltech says it is also hoping to extend its distribution rights to include Foxconn’s new range of graphics cards, expected to be released in the third quarter of this year.
