Fujitsu Siemens saw its Middle East notebook sales soar in the first quarter of 2006, tripling the number of units shipped in the region year-on-year. Fujitsu Siemens claims that its impressive growth rate positioned the company as the fastest growing notebook vendor in the region. Easily outstripping the overall market growth rate, Fujitsu Siemens unit shipments climbed a staggering 247.3% year-on-year as the vendor continues to strengthen its presence across the regional market. In the UAE, which was the fastest growing market for Fujitsu Siemens in the first quarter of 2006, notebook unit shipments more than quadrupled year-on-year. “These figures represent the continued development of our channel strategies and highlight the value customers place on our products,” commented Stephane Rejasse, Middle East general manager at Fujitsu Siemens. “These positive results come hard-on-the-heels of our recently announced annual results, which saw the company achieve a credible 11% growth compared to the previous fiscal year with US$8.3 billion revenue generated,” Rejasse added. “In addition, the Middle East and Africa was the fastest growing region for Fujitsu Siemens Computers in 2005 where year-on-year revenue grew by 51%,” Rejasse concluded.
