IFA Hotels & Resorts’ latest accommodation offering, the IFA Yacht Ownership Club, appears to be cruising full steam ahead, as the new shared ownership vacation concept has already sold 30% of inventory in its first month of marketing. The club provides members with a right to use three yachts cruising three destinations: the Eastern Mediterranean, French Riviera, and the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, on an annual membership, and is the result of one and a half years of research by the hospitality company. “The typical member will use this for a weekend in the Musandam or Cyprus or a cruising holiday off the coast of Cannes. It is the ultimate yachting experience with all the benefits of yacht ownership without the unnecessary costs and headaches of traditional big boat ownership,” Piaras Moriarty, vice president, vacation ownership, IFA Hotels & Resorts, told Hotelier Middle East. Members purchase either Gold or Platinum memberships that are allocated a number of annual IFA Cruising Credits to be exchanged for a combination of peak, shoulder and off-peak cruising days. The club’s fleet currently consists of three Maiora motor yachts, ranging from 23 metres to 27 metres in length, based in Dubai, Beirut and Cannes. “We are in the process of completing our affiliation to The Registry Collection, a luxury asset exchange company, so that members can swap their yacht occupancy for holidays in luxury properties worldwide,” Moriarty explained. Already, IFA is looking to expand this luxury vacation model, with Moriarty pointing out that the concept could easily be applied to private jets in the future.
