Security software vendor Trend Micro has strengthened its regional distribution network, signing up Logicom as a partner for the GCC and Levant. Justin Doo, managing director at Trend Micro Middle East and Africa, said: “We have finalised the agreement with Logicom and they will look to focus on building up the reseller base capable of selling to SMBs for the first two quarters of the agreement.” “Logicom has built up a solid business model with vendors such as Microsoft and Cisco and we are keen for them to now develop a healthy run rate business for Trend Micro’s SMB solutions.” he added. Trend Micro had previously worked with Tech Data to target the SMB channel but that particular agreement was cancelled by mutual consent. “We already have a strong partner in the enterprise space with Online Distribution,” added Doo. “But we still think there is significant room for incremental sales growth in the SMB sector and that is why we have decided to sign Logicom.” Targeting resellers capable of selling to SMBs with fewer than 75 seats, Trend Micro is hoping that Logicom’s existing channel breadth will prove to be fertile ground for developing a route-to-market capable of serving this market segment. Logicom itself is currently dealing with the ramifications of the credit crisis impacting the Dubai-based IT channel. As a major authorised distributor of Intel CPUs into the sub-distribution channel, Logicom will currently be dealing with the fallout caused by the financial problems affecting these large customers.
