Hyder wins job on DL Legends

Contract to be shared with Gensler on US $1.9 billion project

Consultant, Hyder, has picked up a design contract, along with Gensler & Associates, on the US $1.9 billion (AED7 billion) Residential Legends development in Dubailand. After reporting that Gensler had won the contract, Construction Week has learned that a further design contract was awarded to Hyder. Tanmiyat Investment Group is the client for the project. “We have been working with Hyder jointly on the project for the past couple of months,” said Alessandra Almeida, a spokeswoman for Gensler. “Our contract is for the design and masterplan and other key elements for the project, while Hyder’s contract is for the implementation of the design.” The contract consists of five commercial towers, five luxury hotel apartment blocks and 12 residential towers, as well as 500 villas, including 50 super luxury villas consisting of five bedrooms, 150 luxury villas that also consist of five bedrooms and 200 four-bedroom villas. The tower apartments will be categorised into two, three and four bedroom apartments, and penthouses. Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz Al-Majid, deputy director general of Tanmiyat Investment Group, said: “We look forward to bringing to fruition a distinctive architectural development that will feature unmatched specifications. When it comes to the right planning, we always seek advice from the world’s biggest consulting houses, which are skilled within each of their own competencies.” The Legends master plan also includes three theme parks: Legends of Arabia, Legends of Nature and Legends of the World. Four themed hotels will reflect the various themes. The 50-storey Legends Tower Hotel will be the focal point of the development; while the other hotels will be located at the entrance.
