Germany’s Bosch and Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH (BSH) has signed a strategic partnership with channel partner Mohamed Hareb Al Otaiba Group (MHAO) aimed at expanding the company’s share of the household appliance sector in the UAE. The five-year plan calls for the establishment of additional showrooms showcasing BSH’s full range of household appliances in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in addition to service centres in selected locations across the country. MHAO vice chairman Ahmed Hareb Al Otaiba and Bosch MD Heiko Fischer declared the alliance vital to facilitating the companies’ plan for securing a 10% share of the region’s household appliances sector by 2010. “We have been partners for almost three decades now and this deal reinforces our relationship as we strive to enlarge our retail business as well as the re-export trade,” said Al Otaiba. “We will open more showrooms over the next five-years, in addition to full-fledged service centres in Dubai and other Emirates. “Bosch with its household appliances business within the BSH Bosch and Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH joint venture has around 50,900 business associates worldwide, and this division generated sales of around US$ 9 billion worldwide [annually],” added Fischer. “Our alliance with MHAO will help us develop stronger business relations in the region as we increase our market competitiveness and pre-emptively build the competencies and expand our partner network to tap opportunities.”
