Kempinski Hotels opened its first hotel in Dubai last month at the Mall of the Emirates. The 395-room hotel currently has 100 rooms operational and occupied, as construction work continues to put the finishing touches to the property. Kempinski, which already runs the Ajman Kempinski Hotel and Resort and the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, hopes this newest addition will serve the growing demand for high-end accommodation from travellers from around the GCC. “We’re expecting around 80% of our business to come from this region, primarily from Saudi and Kuwait,” said Kempinski Mall of the Emirates’ marketing manager, Doaa Amin. “The hotel has the country’s largest hotel rooms, which is essential for the Arabic market, and has been designed to provide luxury.” The five-star hotel will cater for both business and leisure guests. For business travellers, eight Corner Business Suites are available, which comprise a private bedroom with an adjoining boardroom. “The hotel also has a Conference Wing, with 15 conference rooms, all equipped with the latest telecommunications technology and video-conferencing. Wireless internet is available throughout the hotel,” said Amin. Aside from these business resources, the hotel also offers eight Corner Spa Suites, with massage tables and treatment chairs, giving guests the option to have treatments in privacy. Complete leisure facilities are available, including a health club, Ayurveda wellness centre, beauty treatment rooms, an infinity swimming pool and a tennis court, and, of course, guests can take advantage of the shopping and ski facilities within Mall of the Emirates. “With a unique combination of superior facilities and innovative features, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is positioned to become the leading business and lifestyle destination in the region,” said Michael Henssler, the hotel’s general manager. “The hotel is strategically located to offer guests unrivalled access to world-class shopping and entertainment through Mall of the Emirates, and is close to the city’s major business centres, including the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City,” he added. The hotel has five cafés and restaurants, each with its own speciality. 24/7 is the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, serving a selection of regional and international cuisine. The Aspen Café, in the hotel’s lobby overlooks the slopes of Ski Dubai, while the Mosaic Pool Bar has views over the Jumeirah skyline and the sea. The Vitamins Bar at the fitness centre specialises in healthy and refreshing juice drinks, and finally the 1897 Bar is an intimate lounge with an extensive cocktail menu and live music. The hotel has baby-sitters, personal butlers, an on-call doctor, and multi-lingual staff on hand to assist guests. Kempinski will also be opening the hotel’s 15 Alpine-style ski chalets in the next few months, so guests can have a view of the world’s third largest indoor ski resort on one side, and the Arabian Gulf on the other.
