Entries are now being accepted for the third annual International LEAF (Leading European Architects Forum) Awards which are due to take place in Dubai this September at the Marriott Hotel. Around 250 of the world’s most senior architectural figures from across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America will gather for the event. Several hundred entries are expected for a total of nine categories with one overall winner for the prestigious LEAF Award 2006, awarded last year to the IT University of Copenhagen, designed by Henning Larsens Tegestue. Launched two years ago with the aim of recognising key figures in the industry and celebrating the work of architects from around the world, the LEAF Summit and Awards provide an ideal opportunity for architects to take part in three days of intensive industry discussion and learning amongst leading architectural practitioners. It enables them to gain greater understanding of cutting edge design and innovation and make important contacts for future business use. “The LEAF Awards are an expression of peer recognition and go a long way in highlighting the fantastic and innovative use of new systems and technology in both internal and external architecture,” says Rita Hatton, project manager, LEAF. “With the LEAF Awards and the LEAF Summit taking place in Dubai this year, it is an ideal opportunity for architects to be inspired by the new surroundings of a new city and for local architects and design and build organisations to showcase their innovative and wonderful buildings. We hope to see many entries from architectural and design practices and building suppliers based in the UAE,” says Hatton. Categories for this year’s awards include; ‘Best Public Building Award’, ‘Best Environmentally Sustainable Project’, ‘New Build Award’, and ‘International Interior Design Award’. The awards are open to all companies and individuals that have made an outstanding contribution to the world of architectural design and build. Particular recognition is given to those who have had not only exceptional success, but also demonstrated industry leadership within their respective fields. A two-day exhibition will take place prior to the awards showcasing all the entries. The closing date for receipt of entries will be 31st July 2006. www.leaf-forum.com
