Resellers flock to Tech Data Access SMB event

More than 200 members of the reseller community showed up for Tech Data’s recent Access SMB event. Held at Emirates Towers in Dubai, distributor Tech Data teamed up with nine blue chip vendors to discuss innovation and strategy in the SMB channel.

More than 200 members of the reseller community showed up for Tech Data’s recent Access SMB event. Held at Emirates Towers in Dubai, distributor Tech Data teamed up with nine blue chip vendors to discuss innovation and strategy in the SMB channel. Cisco, Intel, HP, Microsoft, 3Com, Linksys, Kingston, Tripp Lite and Lexmark — the latest addition to Tech Data’s product portfolio — took part in the event. During the event, Adnan Al-Falah, managing director at Tech Data Middle East, urged the SMB-focused resellers to engage more closely with the distributor. Al-Falah highlighted the breadth of Tech Data’s product portfolio, its logistics and financial strength and its dual role as both a volume and value-added distributor. He also used the event to announce Tech Data’s forthcoming e-commerce initiative, which is scheduled for launch in Tech Data’s fourth quarter. While the vast bulk of attendees were from the UAE channel, resellers from as far afield as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan and Pakistan also attended the event. Alongside a number of seminars the event also featured interactive forums, vendor kiosks, two parallel tracks of vendor presentation and the opportunity to arrange one-on-one meetings. Vinu Varghese from reseller Golden Relief Resources said: “It was a fantastically organised and very fruitful event. It was a day well spent — the information that I got from the various vendors and the meetings that I could set up would have otherwise taken weeks.” Claire Jones, distribution and SMB manager at Cisco, said: “We were extremely pleased with the professional nature with which the event was conducted and definitely with the turnout. It was not just the quantity but also the quality of the attendees that impressed up. The event afforded us a great platform to highlight our SMB partner programme and the response we got was indeed encouraging.”
