Tech Data has expanded it product portfolio, striking a regional distribution deal with printing solutions vendor Lexmark. The agreement forms part of Lexmark’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence in the fast-growing Middle East market. “This agreement with Tech Data will help the Lexmark brand widen its reach in the fast-expanding region,” said Francois Feuillet, general manager at Lexmark International Middle East. “Tech Data has a vast and effective network because it has been active in the region for many years. We are happy to be joining hands with them to market our products.” Adnan Al-Falah, managing director at Tech Data Middle East, commented: “Tech Data has had a strong history of partnership with Lexmark in the US and Europe and we are pleased to extend this relationship in the Middle East too.” “With Tech Data’s leadership position in channel distribution and Lexmark’s strong product portfolio we are looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship,” added Al-Falah. Lexmark hopes to capitalise on soaring market demand in the Middle East. The vendor claims that sales of colour printers are estimated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 30% through to 2008. Lexmark also announced recently that it would open an office with a product demonstration room at Dubai Internet City (DIC) by the end of 2006. Tech Data claims that its growing portfolio of major vendors gives it a significant edge over competitors in the market. Based out of Dubai, Tech Data Middle East distributes IT kit across the GCC, Levant and Pakistan through logistics hubs in Jebel Ali, Bahrain and Jordan.
