Egyptian Radio & Television Union, ERTU has invested in Bluefish’s SD|Envy card for its broadcasts. The SD|Envy is being used as a capture and editing device, as well as for feeding an on-air graphics server (deco cast). ERTU modernised its news studio before the Egyptian Presidency elections, and this helped in creating programmes with a modern look consistent with new satellite channels. The SD|Envy cards were installed in already existing IBM Z Pro workstations, and the server needed an SDI input which the SD|Envy provided. Material was captured from both digital and analogue sources via the SD|Envy. Providing digital and analogue in a single card makes it quite efficient for ERTU, and combined with Bluefish444’s Symmetry application, streamlines the workflow. Speaking about the installation, Yahia Al-Hamshary, managing director of DVS Egypt, Bluefish444’s Egyptian distributor, says: “ERTU wanted a full-featured system at a reasonable price point. The Bluefish444 SD|Envy was the right product from the start, and with its real-time effects, will appeal even more to ERTU as well as other broadcasters.” DVS Egypt worked closely with ERTU to determine its needs for this modernisation project, and investigated both software and hardware products to meet those needs.
