Jarir Bookstore is consumed by vendor talk at this year’s show, as it takes to the halls in Riyadh to show off the latest offerings from Toshiba, HP, Dell, Acer, Logitech and Targus to its current and future customers alike. Last year the firm’s biggest IT mover was notebook PCs so to this end its Toshiba and HP product displays are key parts of its stand exhibition at Gitex 2006. “We had a sell out of over 76,000 laptops in 2005, compared to 29,000 laptops in 2004,” states the company’s chief operating officer, Nasser A. Aziz Al-Agil. “And at this year’s event, we expect to double sales of laptops again.” Visitors to Jarir’s show stand can check out Toshiba’s latest Qosmio home entertainment PCs and its new 14.1” wide-screen M35 series. HP meanwhile is officially launching its new dual-core Intel-based notebooks, while Dell is debuting its brand new Inspiron 6400 and 9400 solutions to Saudi customers. Notebooks aren’t the only computers Jarir is concerned with however, as Al-Agil claims desktop PC sales are also still on the rise, due to the low prices of locally assembled PCs and educational incentives from the government such as the Kingdom’s successful ‘PCs for Homes’ scheme. “Our PCs and peripherals division has been showing a very healthy growth over the last four years,” adds Al-Agil, “and PDAs show good growth as well.” Jarir Bookstore claims to be recognised as Saudi Arabia's market leader in office supplies, school supplies, IT products and books. The company is not sitting on its laurels however, with Al-Agil confirming that it plans “to add three to four new stores every year for the next two or three years.” Jarir Bookstore has grown its retail business at tremendous pace, driven by the effort and commitment of the visionary Al-Agil brothers, who started the business with a small store located in Jarir street, Malaz, Riyadh. A strong management team, which believes strongly in maximising the personal growth opportunities for all of its employees, leads the company. “Our employees are our key assets and they are the engineers who build our dreams into reality,” explains Abdulkarim Al-Agil, CEO at Jarir Bookstore. With the retail market for technology products growing at a rapid rate within the Kingdom, the future outlook for Jarir Bookstore is bright. As well as serving individual consumers, Jarir Bookstore also boasts a strong corporate sales division, which specialises in supplying a range of products to large account customers. This year’s Gitex Saudi Arabia remains a vital event for Jarir Bookstore.
