Dubai Internet City (DIC) has revealed its plans for participation at this year’s Gitex Saudi Arabia. DIC’s Community Zone at the exhibition will promote a cross-section of companies keen to increase their exposure in the fast-growing Saudi market. Companies represented within the DIC Community Zone will include ComGuard, Network Appliance, Sobha IT, Madar Research, IT People and TechXact Middle East. Also participating alongside DIC at its stand will be the H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid IT Education Project (ITEP), which seeks to enhance IT literacy in the region. DIC is looking to strengthen its ties with the Saudi ICT industry through this year’s Gitex event. Jamal Abdul Salam, executive director at DIC, said: “We are keen to develop stronger ties with the Saudi ICT market and help our business partners develop their business in this high-growth market. Saudi Arabia, the Middle East’s most powerful economy, remains the region’s number one market form computers and IT applications.” “Saudi Arabia’s huge size and tremendous potential make it an extremely exciting market. The Community Zone at Gitex Saudi will be a strategic platform for our business partners to strengthen their brands and build further relationships in the Saudi market,” he concluded. DIC claims that Saudi Arabia currently makes up 40% of the regional IT market. With sales of PCs and notebooks continuing to climb in the Kingdom, internet use and e-commerce are expected to increase dramatically in the next few years driving demand for related hardware and software applications. According to DIC, the Saudi market offers great opportunities for suppliers of the latest in office technology, intranet services, mobile and wireless networking systems.
