Afghanistan’s City Centre Hotel has deployed a series of D-Link solutions to provide its business guests internet access. Although the hotel had the internet satellite high-speed connection, it was faced with the problem of providing network access to its guests. Once the City Centre Hotel identified its problems, it teamed up with Prologix Dubai, which is a D-Link partner, to manage the project. “Due to a high demand from its corporate accounts, the City Centre Hotel was looking at providing high-speed internet access as an amenity. It was on the verge of potentially losing accounts; internet services were not ready for its business guests who were heavily accustomed to high-speed connectivity while traveling,” says Sarwan Singh, CEO of Prologix. Singh says his IT team started the deployment by splitting the internet connection into public and private networks using the D-Link DSA-3100 Air spot. The private network was connected through wire allowing access only to the hotel employees, while the public network was connected to the D-Link DES-3226SM to provide free internet access to hotel guests. The engineers deployed two D-Link DWL-3200 access points in the middle of each wing: one on the first floor and one in the middle of third floor. “With rising economical growth and a demand for resourceful infrastructures, more people are turning to high-speed internet to take advantage of day-to-day business needs. It has become a basic necessity for today’s hotels to have a reliable high-speed internet access solution for both leisure travellers and business clients,” explains Singh. Now that the deployment is complete, the City Centre Hotel is able to offer its customers enhanced high-speed internet access. “Customers can now enjoy their stay while surfing the web or just checking e-mail from the comfort of their rooms. Employees are also surfing the web from their own private secure network. With this service, the City Centre Hotel has created a new source of revenue by attracting newer customers,” enthuses Singh.
