HP’s imaging and printing group (IPG) team will be out in force at Gitex Saudi Arabia, using this year's event to promote a massive array of products and solutions catering to the needs of customers of all sizes in the Kingdom. “This is a very important event for HP’s IPG business unit,” explains Amr Hassan, general manager of HP IPG Middle East. “We will be well represented at the shopper event, allowing consumers to find out more about the latest solutions available to them. We will also be working with our distributors to ensure that business-focused IPG solutions are prominently displayed during the event.” The sheer breadth of the IPG portfolio on offer from HP means that working through multiple partners is an imperative. “There is so much for customers and partners to see,” says Hassan. “From digital photography solutions through to all-in-one multi-function printers. InkJets, DeskJets, scanners, colour or mono laser printers and then there's also the large format printers as well.” HP is planning a big push for its large format offerings in the Kingdom, providing customers with a cost-effective means of printing both indoor and outdoor media. For Gitex visitors that feel the need for speed this year, HP will also showcase what it claims are the world’s fastest PhotoSmart and InkJet printers at the show. “Saudi Arabia is the largest market by far in the region,” continues Hassan. “The way that the market is transforming at the moment is incredible — it is like a tornado. We have doubled the number of people that we have in Saudi Arabia to reflect the size of the opportunity that exists for further growth. HP is probably now the largest IT vendor in terms of workforce commitment to Saudi Arabia.” Hassan expects sales in Saudi Arabia to continue growing at approximately 20% per annum and believes that the business sector represents a prime opportunity. “We have seen more customers at an enterprise and an SMB level move towards colour printing as it becomes more affordable,” he adds. Shopper visitors calling in at the stands of retailers such as Jarir and CompuMe will find a full range of HP IPG consumer solutions on display. “We are committed not only to delivering the latest and greatest technology, but also to understanding consumer needs,” adds Hassan. “The emotional link that we build with customers is very important to HP.” With a totally channel-focused go-to-market model in the Kingdom, HP IPG will also take the time to meet with key partners at the show.
