Distribution giant BDL has reserved a grand total of 13 booths for this year’s shopper event at Gitex Saudi Arabia. The company plans to share the booths with strategic resellers and partners that have worked closely with BDL during the last year. Representing major vendors across a variety of product areas including Acer, Lenovo, Lexmark and MSI, BDL ranks as one of the most important and largest IT distributors in the Kingdom. “We will be showcasing a number of different products in addition to notebooks,” says Prince Waleed bin Saud bin Thonayan Al Saud, president at BDL. “Although we are the exclusive distributor for Acer’s notebooks, our product portfolio includes other brands and other products from Acer itself. We are currently focusing on the consumer retail channel more than the corporate and large accounts space.” BDL will select the partners that have performed strongly to appear alongside the company at Gitex Saudi. “We are looking for partners who can share this opportunity with us,” says Mecky Fathy, operations manager at BDL. “Partners that have strong relationships with BDL will be eligible to take part.” Tamer Ismail, general manager at BDL, adds: “Gitex Saudi Arabia is an opportunity for us to showcase the complete line-up of products that we distribute in the Kingdom, increasing awareness of the portfolio in the market. It is a platform that can be used to empower the presence of the company as well.” “During the show we can introduce the products in the way we need through our participating partners. There will be increased interest in the special offers that we have during the show and we will be marketing these strongly,” continues Ismail. With strong consumer demand for technology products driving sales in the Kingdom, BDL is expecting strong sell out before, during and immediately after this year’s Gitex event. Appearing at the event plays a pivotal role in reinforcing BDL’s brand equity in the market, according to Ismail. “There are no doubts that participation in Gitex Saudi Arabia reflects the importance of the role that a company plays in the Kingdom’s IT market,” explains Ismail. With more and more vendors looking to appoint strong in-country distributors to cover the Saudi Arabian market, BDL’s continued success in the Kingdom looks assured. In recent years, BDL has played a pivotal role in helping Acer increase its market share in the lucrative notebook sector through its strong channel network.
