Authorised Sony distributor Modern Electronics promises to showcase full range of kit from hardware giant Sony as consumer demand keeps growing. Sony products will be prominently displayed at this year’s show as Modern Electronics (MEE), a Branch of Al Faisaliah Group Holding Co. Ltd., prepares itself for Gitex. MEE has been a distributor of Sony products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the last 35 years. According to MEE’s marcoms manager, Renato C. Fernandes, “Gitex is the only exhibition in the Saudi market that has a large impact, therefore we tend to save our major launches for the show each year.” He stressed that the specific customer profile at Gitex had roll on effects for brand association in the Kingdom. The company’s 2006 show will focus on promoting Sony’s new digital connectivity products as well as a host of other new lines, including some exclusive to the Saudi market in the Middle East. Key display items for MEE this year will include the Sony Handycam (DCR-803E & DCR-905E), a video camera that can instantly record videos and still pictures directly onto DVD disks with Dolby digital 5.1 sound, launched only in KSA. Sony’s latest network Walkman series (AURA), Sony’s new line of MP3 walkmans with the flagship NW-A3000 model capable of storing 13,000 songs and featuring an ‘intelligent shuffle mode’, 35 hours battery life, G-sensor hard disk shock protection technology and a two-inch OEL display screen, will also be on show at MEE’s stand. The new range of Sony Bravia, high definition ready LCD TVs, featuring Sony’s latest LCD panel technology and the Sony Cybershot DSC T-9; a digital camera with six mega pixel resolution, super steady shot technology, optical image stabilisation, high ISO sensitivity and clear RAW noise reduction will ensure that there is plenty for visitors to see and do on the MEE stand this year. MEE has an extensive network of about 600 dealers, 26 fully owned showrooms and 15 service centres spread throughout the Kingdom. Sales and service networks are being revamped and developed to communicate the full benefits of new products to customers as well as providing after sales service. New Sony World showrooms with ‘digital themes’ are also being established in stages to promote Sony’s strategy of improving the in-store consumer experience — a theme that will be integral to Sony’s presence at Gitex Saudi Arabia this year as it looks to deliver on the digital lifestyle dream.
