Consumer electronics manufacturer BenQ achieved record growth in Saudi Arabia across its entire product range during 2005 and comes to the show this year planning to focus on digital projection systems and LCD TVs. Rodana Digital, the company’s distributor for the kingdom, told Gitex Preview that Saudi Arabia is BenQ’s most important market in the Middle East and therefore a presence at Gitex is essential. “Consumers in Saudi Arabia are extremely knowledgeable about the latest technological developments,” says general manager, Ayman H. Akel. “The Kingdom is the region’s most important business market, because of its size and demand for technology.” Visitors to the BenQ-Rodana stand at Gitex will see a selection of BenQ’s projectors including the PE8720, a home cinema projector with the world’s highest contrast ratio (10,000:1). Also on display will be BenQ’s LCD TV portfolio with sizes ranging from 20” to 37”. “Saudi Arabia is an enthusiastic adopter of new technology and is a strategic market for BenQ,” says BenQ’s managing director for the Middle East and Africa, Robert Dung. “Increasingly, Saudi business professionals are identifying the positive impact of mobility on their bottom-line, and they are enthusiastic about its potential,” he adds.
