Sybase is to launch a new technology research lab in Jordan to promote IT learning and technological innovation in the country. Sybase Products Middle East is working with the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), and Turnkey International Solutions (TIS) on the lab project. The new facility will be located within the grounds of PSUT. The lab will include Sybase technology and systems, to be supplied by TIS, Sybase’s partner in Jordan. These include the PowerBuilder programming language, the PowerDesigner modelling tool and the Adaptive Server Enterprise database. “We are pleased to work with TIS and launch this initiative with PSUT, one of the leading and highly respected educational institutions in Jordan, educate and empower students with knowledge of some of the cutting edge technologies in the market today,” said Tony Achkar, deputy general manager at Sybase Products Middle East. “This is part of Sybase’s worldwide commitment to the educational sector and we are happy that PSUT is the first educational institute in the region we work with in this respect. We hope to further grow this partnership among PSUT, TIS and Sybase in the near future and to replicate our success here in other countries.” TIS has signed an agreement to increase its involvement with leading educational establishments in Jordan. The new Sybase lab is part of this commitment, according to TIS. "TIS, Sybase and PSUT made joint efforts to organize the implementation of this pioneering project. We hope that our efforts will in fact arm students with the skills they need to effectively face a market filled with fierce competition and ongoing change,” said Fadi Mubarak, general manager of TIS. “TIS wants to play an active role in the development of our society, and we chose PSUT as the venue for this project on account of its strong reputation as the only university in Jordan to specialize in educational programs in the field of technology and communications.”
