Dubai Media City based post house, Victory International Production, recently invested in a Sony HD system including a HDW 750 camera and the vendor’s non linear editing system as well as a Pinnacle subtitling system. The equipment has helped Victory undertake several HD projects in the region. “We see a huge potential for HD production and equipment hire in Dubai,” says Hany Elyazouri, operations manager for Victory International Production. “When we launched Victory, our aim was to attract a whole new niche of clients, who understood and appreciated the importance of quality work. That is why we have focused more on HD although we do also do SD work and have a digi beta cam,” he adds. As Victory also has the rights for several programmes in the region, it has also undertaken to do subtitling for these projects. The Pinnacle subtitling system for Victory was sourced by Sony Professional Solutions, Dubai, which undertook the planning, designing, installation and integration at Victory. “Sony has a professional division of about six people in Dubai that purely cater to the systems installation and integration of equipment at customer sites irrespective of whether that equipment belongs to us or not,” affirms Vivian Saldanha, sales manager, Sony Professional Solutions. “We have an excellent rapport with most vendors around the world and we can easily source products according to our client’s requirements. We also have project management expertise. Moreover, as we are based in Dubai Media City, many of our end users here feel comfortable as we are located so close to them and after service support is easier,” he adds. In the meanwhile, Victory has already surged ahead with several HD productions. It has produced music videos for Dubai TV. It is currently working on an Arabic family drama series for a client in Kuwait although it is intended for screening in the UAE. “We are working on 30 episodes. It is for a channel in Dubai but we are not at liberty to which channel it is for yet. However, the whole production will be done here,” says Elyazouri.
