Trend Micro has unveiled the second version of its Mobile Security software, which aims to protect mobile devices from security threats such as viruses, worms and spam. “The number of people using data-centric devices and smartphones continues to grow, and, as a result, so does the potential security threat to users,” stated Justin Doo, managing director of Trend Micro, Middle East and Africa. The software – aimed primarily at mobile users and business professionals - includes anti-virus and anti-spam protection for smartphones and PDAs. The new solution also boasts support for Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system – a feature not present in the previous version. Apart from Windows Mobile 5.0, Mobile Security 2.0 currently supports also running a Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for Smartphone, Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for Pocket PC and PocketPC Phone Edition and Symbian OS 7.0 to 8.1. In fact, different versions of Mobile Security 2.0 are available for Windows and Symbian platforms. Mobile Security 2.0 will be available across the region from May onwards. Pricing is yet to be announced.
