Parsons International and Associated Consulting Engineers (ACE) have been appointed to the design team of Energy City in Qatar (ECQ). Lead architect MZ & Partners has signed an agreement with both firms, which will see ACE retained as sub-consultant for the infrastructure works, and Parsons as a design sub-consultant to carry out the traffic impact study for the project. ECQ will be developed within the recently unveiled US $5 billion (QR18 billion) Lusail development north of Doha, which will be spread over 35km2, comprising marinas, residential areas, commercial districts, leisure facilities including two golf courses and an entertainment district. “The remit of MZ & Partners is to reflect the overall theme of energy in all aspects of the project development, making it distinctive with an identity of its own,” said Esam Janahi, chairman, ECQ. The first phase of the project will involve an investment of $1.6 billion. ACE provides consulting in engineering and architecture, throughout the Middle East and the Gulf. It has also worked on Jeddah Touristic City and Madinat Yanbu Community in Saudi Arabia.
