The Hotel Show is set for a 30% increase this year and will occupy seven halls at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre when it opens in June. Companies from 31 countries have already signed up to exhibit at the show as businesses compete for market share in the booming regional hospitality industry. Mexico, Japan and Norway will all participate for the first time and a growing number of local firms will also showcase their products. “The Hotel Show has now consolidated itself as the premier event of its type in the Middle East and exhibiting here will be the perfect platform for us to launch our products into this lucrative market,” said Gabriel Lopez Morton, director of international sales at Galerias Chippendale, one of the leading manufacturers and retailers of high-end period furniture in Mexico and the Americas. This growth in international exhibitor interest can be attributed to the market dynamism in the GCC region, where an estimated US $700 billion is to be spent on new projects, according to a recent MEED report. “Traditional source markets, such as Spain, Portugal and France, have all increased their presence at the show, but we are also confirming bookings from countries such as Poland, Russia, Tunisia and Turkey,” said Maggie Moore, project manager, The Hotel Show. “We are negotiating for more country pavilions, which will enhance the international aspect of the show,” she added. This year’s show will also see significant growth in exhibitors targeting the service side of the industry, especially specialist technology providers. “Hoteliers are interested in both the software and the hardware needed for any successful property, and this has been noted by professional service providers both regionally and internationally,” Moore added. The Hotel Show takes place at DIEC from June 4-6.
