A visa mix-up turned APC’s latest channel reward trip into a travel nightmare for a group of Indian resellers from Dubai. Rather than spending today watching the one-day international match between Pakistan and India in Lahore, the Indian resellers instead found themselves deported from Pakistan and detained for a lengthy period at Dubai airport before being allowed back into the UAE. The trip to Pakistan, which formed part of the UPS vendor’s LoveAPC campaign, offered 15 resellers the opportunity to win a place based on the volume of APC product sales they made in a set period. Philip Hughes, general manager at APC Middle East, explained: “There was a mix-up with the travel visas for the Indian resellers participating on the trip. Unfortunately, while they left Dubai on the date specified on the visa, they actually arrived in Pakistan a day later and this is why they were refused entry, deported and returned to Dubai on the next available flight.” “When they landed back in Dubai, the fact that they had been deported back from Pakistan created some problems in terms of getting back into the UAE. APC’s corporate and legal teams will be in contact with all the resellers concerned to make sure that there are no future problems with their passports as a result of this unfortunate incident,” added Hughes The group of unlucky resellers left Dubai bound for Pakistan late on Sunday 12th February arriving around 1am on Monday 13th February. They were put on the first flight back a few hours later and landed in Dubai at approximately 6am this morning. The group was eventually cleared through immigration at approximately 3pm this afternoon according to a vendor executive that had spoken to one of the party.
