Adobe Systems has launched a new self-branded website, Adobe Labs, with which to debut next-generation products and technologies to software developers and technology enthusiasts. Originally introduced in October last year by fellow software developer Macromedia, which Adobe owns, Adobe Labs gives developers and technology enthusiasts the chance to try out, evaluate, and share feedback about new and emerging products well before they go to market. In return, Adobe benefits from this feedback and thus gains the opportunity to make adjustments to product strategy before shipping to end customers. "Feedback from our developer and customer communities is essential to delivering compelling products," said Kevin Lynch, Adobe’s senior vice president and chief software architect. "Adobe Labs fosters community involvement early in the product development cycle, enables access to emerging technologies and ultimately helps to build better products." Earlier this week for instance, an update to Flash Pro 8 software was made available on Adobe Labs for those developers building mobile applications with Flash Lite 2 software. Check out this and more new developments at http://labs.adobe.com.
