Air Arabia has appointed Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Co. (GAMCO) as its service and maintenance partner. The Abu Dhabi-based company will help Air Arabia support its rapidly growing fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft for the next three years. “We have opened a new chapter in air travel in the Gulf & Middle East region and from the beginning we have been selecting the best partners to help us,” said Adel Ali, chief executive officer, Air Arabia. “Our unique business model demands us to maximise cost efficiency through innovative means and ways. For Air Arabia, the current signing of the contract is another confirmation of confidence in GAMCO’s broad experience in managing aircraft fleets.” Under the terms of the agreement, GAMCO has already set up a maintenance unit at Sharjah Airport, covering line maintenance and other services. This service will be expanded to cover heavy maintenance as soon as facility and support equipment is made available. This means that GAMCO will be performing all maintenance tasks from A-Checks to annual C-Checks at Sharjah Airport.
