Pro Technology has implemented a digital photo archiving solution for Dubai Municipality. As part of the project, solution provider Pro Technology used a number of products from digital asset management solutions vendor Canto. The digital photo archiving solution used Cumulus 6.6 archive server solution, Cumulus workgroup edition and web publisher 2.0, incorporating a variety of security enhancements for protecting and safeguarding brands and assets at Dubai Municipality. “With Cumulus archive server solutions, asset security is enhanced and the centralised access features of Canto streamlines workflow at Dubai Municipality by automatically accumulating assets in one central, safe and managed location ensuring complete cross-platform compatibility,” explained Jamal Maraqa, managing director at Pro Technology. According to Pro Technology, users at Dubai Municipality will benefit greatly from Cumulus’ ability to read metadata from raw files generated by more than 80 models of digital camera. The Cumulus 6.6 server solutions offers powerful version control features including the ability to save all versions of an asset ensuring that complete revision history is available and version control is guaranteed. Cumulus 6.6 also offers a check-in check-out facility ensuring that only one person at a time can work on a file but allowing multiple users read only access to previously saved versions to ensure transparent and efficient workflow. Shaban Taha, technical director at Pro Technology, concluded: “Cumulus’ new control features in version 6.6 provides the end-user with greater flexibility in customisation and integration, and it will improve the work flow at Dubai Municipality even more.”
