Epson is offering regional photographers and media buffs a digital storeroom with the launch of its new P-4000 Multimedia Storage Viewer. The P-4000 is the second photo viewer offering by Epson in the region after the April 2005 launch of its P-2000 model. “Given the rapidly increasing popularity of digital photography in the Middle East, the Epson P-4000 Multimedia Storage Viewer is certain to interest photo enthusiasts across the region,” predicted Khalil El-Dalu, general manager of Epson Middle East. Similar to the firm’s P-2000, the P-4000 features a 3.8-inch LCD display and a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. However unlike the $500 P-2000, which offered a 40Gbyte hard disk, the P-4000 boasts a 80Gbyte hard drive, which the firm claims is good for holding approximately 18,000 six-megapixel images. The 4000 – like its predecessor - can store and display images in raw and jpeg format and users can store and view digital movies in Motion JPEG and MPEG4 format, as well as listen to MP3 and ACC songs. The viewer comes with a rechargeable battery, which the firm claims offers a playback time of over three hours in continuous photo slideshow mode. Epson’s latest addition comes with a one-year warranty and is currently available in stores across for the region for approximately $700.
