Toshiba and Al-Futtaim salute top sellers of 2005

Notebook vendor Toshiba teamed up with its exclusive UAE distributor, Al-Futtaim Technologies, to present awards to a number of channel partners, based on their sales performance during 2005.

Notebook vendor Toshiba teamed up with its exclusive UAE distributor, Al-Futtaim Technologies, to present awards to a number of channel partners, based on their sales performance during 2005. R. Muralidharan, general manager at Al-Futtaim Technologies, said: “2005 was a great year for Al-Futtaim Technologies in the UAE, where we not only met but exceeded our forecasted figures. This would not have happened if it wasn’t for the continuous support received from our valued partners. The awards ceremony was a small gesture to thank them for their efforts.” According to preliminary IDC figures, Toshiba shipments in the UAE for full year 2005 came in at just under 62,000 units — a growth of 84% year-on-year. These units, sold through Al-Futtaim Technologies, represented 18% of the total notebook market share in the UAE according to IDC. During the ceremony, which took place at the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai, Carrefour received the platinum award for the highest growth in sales of Toshiba notebooks during 2005. Carrefour was followed by Dubai Duty Free and Plug-Ins Electronix, which won the gold and silver awards respectively. In the small and medium business category, Computronics Trading bagged the platinum prize, with Computer Care grabbing gold and Advanced Business Computers going home happy with a silver award. Jumbo Electronics also received an award in the new entrant category.
