Almasa IT Distribution has expanded its geographic rights for Samsung hard drives and optical drives. After its sparkling sales performance for Samsung kit during the last year, Almasa has now been granted distribution rights for Yemen, Egypt and all the GCC countries with the exception of Saudi Arabia. Raj Samuel, sales marketing manager at Samsung, said: “The regional distribution agreement for GCC, Egypt and Yemen is in line with Samsung’s objective to be the top storage vendor in the region. We believe Almasa’s channel engagement and focus is in line with this objective.” Almasa picked up Samsung channel awards in recognition of the growth of both its Samsung ODD and HDD sales during full year 2005. Frank Sheu, the recently appointed CEO at Almasa IT Distribution, added: “We are pleased to receive the Samsung awards, and we see this as a clear acknowledgement of our continuous efforts to further strengthen our business relationship to both vendors and channel partners.” “The appointment as regional distributor of Samsung HDD products for the GCC, Yemen and Egypt is associated with our ambition to achieve further growth and expanded geographic coverage to increase customer reach and sales,” Sheu added. According to Almasa, the awards reflect not only its goal of maintaining its position as the leading distributor in the Middle East and North Africa, but also highlight its ambition to ensure reseller profitability within the channel. Samsung first appointed Almasa as one of three UAE distributors in the third quarter of 2004. With the extension of its rights, Almasa has now become one of only two regional distributors working with Samsung in the Middle East.
