Security specialist Trend Micro has launched a new integrated all-in-one security solution to help small and medium sized business (SMBs) get protected. The firm’s ‘Worry-Free Security’ initiative is targeted at small Middle Eastern firms that have little or no IT support and which wish to offload the time and expertise required to combat viruses, worms, spyware, spam, trojans, and the loss of confidential information. Trend’s new initiative features three strategic components: automatic threat protection, all-in-one, integrated defence against a variety of threats, and zero administration. The firm claims all three of these, combined, deliver an automated security shield that protects businesses while minimising the need for round-the-clock IT support. The first phase of ‘Worry-Free Security’, which over time will feature additional services and solutions designed for small and medium businesses, includes the latest versions of Trend Micro’s anti-virus and antivirus/anti-spam solutions with added personal firewall protection,: namely Client Server Security and Client Server Messaging Security for SMB. “The SMB sector, which drives the Middle East economy, nevertheless suffers from a lack of IT support and the knowledge required to make businesses grow,” commented Nisar Khan, Trend Micro Middle East’s channel account manager. “At Trend Micro we have just realigned our partner programme to address this need, and the new ‘Worry-Free Security’ initiative adds further impetus to our effort.” This initiative’s launch comes about after Trend Micro quizzed the region’s SMBs about their thoughts on IT security. 85% of the firms surveyed admitted they wanted a vendor to advise them of security threats and provide guidance for protecting their business assets, with 72% also saying they preferred having limited involvement in responding to any virus outbreak and that they wanted a security solution to protect their computer network in a seamless, self-sufficient manner. As part of its initiative, Trend Micro is SMB organisations the chance to try a 30-day trial of either its Client/Server Security 3.0 and Client/Server/Messaging Security 3.0 releases. Find these at Trend Micro is not the only company in the region to target SMB organisations with security solutions. HP for example last year introduced its Business Protection portfolio, part of its ongoing ‘Smart Office’ initiative for SMBs. This particular approach emphasises three key areas: data protection (providing businesses with the tools they need to capture, distribute and protect information automatically and back-up and recover data); security protection (giving SMBs the tools to fight against increasingly sophisticated security threats); and business-critical availability; HP’s products and services aim to keep business systems running during critical times such as power outages and natural disasters.
